The Prison Ministry program of the Diocese of Amarillo brings the Word of God and the hope of the Catholic Faith to incarcerated men within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice system. Through pastoral care, catechesis, and access to the Sacraments, the ministry helps individuals grow spiritually, restore their dignity, and build a strong foundation for life beyond incarceration. Many participants seek conversion or completion of their Sacraments of Initiation, and each year several men are confirmed, marking a significant step in their faith journey.
This ministry fosters healing, self-worth, and a renewed identity as children of God while preparing individuals for successful reintegration into society. Through ongoing formation, retreats, and the support of clergy and lay leaders, the program provides spiritual guidance, practical resources, and encouragement not only to those incarcerated but also to their families, bringing hope and transformation to lives in need.
