marriage Preparation requirementsThe sacrament of matrimony is one of the sacraments of mission (along with Holy Orders). The Church tells us that the family is the building block of society, and families are built on the sacred union between a man and a woman. This means that strong marriages are imperative to have a strong family, a strong Church, and a strong society. To prepare young couples for the lifelong commitment of marriage, the Diocese of Amarillo requires that they attend an Engaged Encounter weekend retreat and a Natural Family Planning class. This is in addition to any preparation requirements at the parish level.
