    Marriage Preparation & Enrichment
The Diocese of Amarillo aims to support couples in building strong, faith-filled marriages by providing comprehensive education, spiritual guidance, and tools for lifelong communication and love, fostering a deeper commitment to each other and to God’s plan for marriage and family life.

The sacrament of matrimony is one of the sacraments of mission (along with Holy Orders). The Church tells us that the family is the building block of society, and families are built on the sacred union between a man and a woman. This means that strong marriages are imperative to have a strong family, a strong Church, and a strong society. To prepare young couples for the lifelong commitment of marriage, the Diocese of Amarillo requires that they attend an Engaged Encounter weekend retreat and a Natural Family Planning class. This is in addition to any preparation requirements at the parish level.
