Days in the Diocese​

Days in the Diocese gives pilgrims the opportunity to experience the life of the Korean Church before the main World Youth Day week begins.

Pilgrims stay with local families, participate in parish life, share in community events, and experience the daily rhythm of Catholic life in Korea. It is a time of cultural exchange, service, prayer, and encounter.

For many groups, this becomes one of the most memorable parts of the pilgrimage. Before entering the large international gathering of World Youth Day, pilgrims first encounter the Church at a local level: through families, parishes, traditions, and communities that welcome them as brothers and sisters in Christ.

Days in the Diocese is a powerful reminder that the Church is both universal and personal. It is global, yet it is also lived in homes, parishes, and daily acts of faith.

Days in the Diocese (DID) for World Youth Day 2027 take place from July 29 to August 2, 2027, in South Korea, right before the main World Youth Day events. This cultural and spiritual program allows international pilgrims to stay in one of the 15 local dioceses across the host country before traveling to Seoul for WYD. 

Usually all activities are scheduled by the host (Arch) Diocese. Activities consist of local community integration, faith-sharing, regional tours, and prayer with host families and local parishes. All designed to introduce pilgrims to Korean culture, history, and the local Catholic community.
